Im 9 months pregnant and having some pains ?

Ok I went to the ER into labor and delivery and they told me that I am dilated at 2 and half cm but its false labor and I decided to walk home about 2 miles and I feel some pain coming still.

I dont know if its real yet but I have sharp pains coming in my back and I also keep having a pain in my vagina which lasts about 30 seconds then finishes. I dont want to keep going to the doctor if its false. What can I do ?

Go back if you arent sure false alarms never hurt and the LD staff understand.

But generally the contractions should be lasting more than 30 seconds closer to 60 and coming a pretty regular intervals. Once they are consistently 57 minutes apart for more than an hour and are more intense feeling you wouldnt be able to walk 2 miles with them then you are more likely to have transitioned into active labor.

    Good luck

I REALLY do not understand why they would send you home without calling your doctor If you are having contractions that are progressing at all that is causing your cervix to shorten or dilate as yours is doing then it is not false labor. If it is causing you to actively progress then it is indeed active progressive labor and you need to be checked by a doctor and getting ready for delivery And walking home two miles was probably really not a good idea. It sounds to me like youre having contractions in your back which is one way doctors can sometimes tell the difference between false and real labor. False contractions or BraxtonHicks cause your uterus to tighten and may take your breath away a little bit but they shouldnt cause terrible pains in your back. Also that vaginal pain is most likely your baby pressing down into the birth canal as a result of your contractions. It could also be your cervix dilating further. I would completely skip the LD and call my doctor immediately. Dont take any chances and if you have doubts or concerns dont take no for an answer.

time them When they are 34 min apart then call the OB floor at the hospital where you plan to deliver or if its during office hours call your OBGYN. The worst thats going to happen by going to early is them sending you home Try resting also if they go away when you lay down then its probably nothing. lay on your left side. Just dont be afraid to go its better to be safe than deliver at home or in the car :D

wait a couple hours or so and youll know. if its truly labor the pain will be excruciating enough to tell by then.

but it never hurts to double check at the hospital

by the way labor can be weird sometimes. i had what was called coupling contractions so the whole 5 minutes apart lasting five minutes thing did not even apply and no one told me that could happen. just go with your instinct.
